Recent oral health graduates who are seeking an exciting and challenging career in the Oral Health field should consider working for Queensland Health. Queensland Health employs a range of oral health professionals including: Dentists, Dental Specialists, Oral Health Therapists, Dental Technicians and Dental Prosthetists.
Queensland Health staff enjoy working in a variety of diverse environments including dental hospitals, clinics and mobile dental clinics and laboratories. These dental facilities are located throughout Queensland and include rural and remote, regional, costal and metropolitan areas. Oral health services are also provided to aged care and correctional facilities across the state.
To work as an oral health professional in Queensland, you must be registered with the appropriate Board. Dentists, Dental Specialists, Dental Prosthetists, Dental Therapists and Dental Hygienists must seek registration with the Dental Board of Australia. Please note that until further notice, Queensland trained Oral Health Therapists must continue to maintain dual registration as a Dental Therapist and Dental Hygienist. They should not register as an Oral Health Therapist.
Dental Technicians must seek registration with the Dental Technicians Board of Queensland. Proof of registration is required prior to commencing employment with Queensland Health.
Oral health professionals must also apply for a Queensland Radiation Licence to take radiographs. For further information refer to the Queensland Health Radiation Health Unit.
