About Queensland Health

Queensland Health aims to provide safe, sustainable, efficient, quality and responsive health services for all Queenslanders – working together for a healthier Queensland. To achieve this we work with the community and clinicians, government and non-government partners, as a network of 178 hospitals and healthcare facilities.

The 17 health service districts, including Children’s Health Services, deliver a range of integrated services, including:

From 1 July, 2012, Queensland Health will be implementing the National Health Reform across the state. This will include the establishment of 17 Local Health and Hospital Networks (LHHNs) with an 18th LHHN to be created in the future called Clinical Support Services. LHHNs will be statutory bodies with Governing Councils, accountable to the local community and the Queensland Parliament. See what Health Reform will mean for Queensland Health.

Queensland is the preferred location for many new arrivals each year so we are expanding our acute health services across the state to cater for the increasing demand from a rapidly growing population. This equates to a growth in the opportunities—and incentives—for skilled health professionals to make the move.

Queensland Health has the largest health building program in Australia, totaling to nearly $7 billion, with almost $2 billion being invested alone in 2011-12. This program is delivering new and upgraded health facilities across the state in locations such as the Gold and Sunshine Coasts, Cairns, Mackay, Townsville, Mt Isa and Rockhampton.

Queensland Health is recruiting now

Recruitment of clinical staff remains a major priority for the Queensland Government. From large technologically advanced tertiary hospitals in our metropolitan and regional cities, to community health centres servicing rural, remote and Indigenous communities, we offer exciting career pathways and employment opportunities for health professionals.

We offer employees competitive remuneration, benefits and incentives, career development and opportunity with outstanding support for workplace training and education within our flexible, family friendly workplaces.

Queensland Health is guided by five core values in fulfilling its mission to work together for a healthier Queensland and to act in the best interest of all Queenslanders:
