Looking after your testicles

The testicles (sometimes called ‘balls’) are the two organs that produce sperm cells. They hang away from the body in a thin fleshy sack called the scrotum (bag). Often, one testicle is slightly bigger than the other. This is normal.

Guys should check their testicles for any changes like lumps or hardness after a warm bath or shower when they are loose. If you do feel any changes, tell your doctor as some changes could be a sign of cancer. However, most changes are not cancer and are easy to treat. If cancer is found early, it can usually be treated successfully. More detailed information on early detection of testicular cancer can be found on the Queensland Cancer Fund website

What to do

If you are experiencing pain, notice changes like lumps or hardness, see your local doctor, family planning clinic or sexual health clinic for advice.
