Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs Prevention Workshops

The ATOD Prevention Workshop is held annually for new and existing Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drug Prevention workers employed by Queensland Health and non-government organisations (including positions funded through the Chronic Disease and Indigenous Health Strategies).

The workshop aims to support workers in the development and delivery of alcohol, tobacco and other drug prevention programs, specifically to:

• increase staff knowledge of how to implement effective local prevention activities
• build the confidence of staff to deliver ATOD prevention programs
• address barriers to local implementation of proven strategies
• support discussion of evidence-based ATOD prevention approaches and future directions
• provide an environment for networking and information sharing to improve practice.

The 2009 Workshop was held at the Division of the Chief Health Officer Training Centre, Brisbane from 2-4 December 2009.
