The Orthotics and Prosthetics Unit provides orthotic and prosthetic management including the issue of orthoses (external limb / spinal bracing) and interim prostheses (artificial limbs) to eligible patients.
The Orthotics and Prosthetics Unit is one of only two in Queensland public health system, and is the only one servicing both the paediatric and adult patients. Services extend across the state and include referrals from Northern NSW, Norfolk Island, Papa New Guinea and Fiji. The unit also provides an outreach service to major country hospitals.
