Medical Imaging Technology

Medical imaging technologists (also known as Radiographers) are employed at 50 Queensland Health hospitals across the state.  They provide services in emergency departments, ward and operating theatre environments and in custom-built departments with acess to state-of-the-art technology.

Requirements to Practise

Individuals seeking employment as a medical imaging technologist in Queensland must be registered with the Medical Radiation Technologists Board of Queensland.

Individuals working as a medical imaging technologist in Queensland are also required to hold a current radiation safety licence.

Overseas Qualified Medical Imaging Technologists

If your qualifications were not obtained in Australia or New Zealand, you will be required to have your qualifications assessed for equivalency. 

You can either:

Graduates with overseas qualifications who have completed a degree program accredited by the AIR and who fulfil specified criteria may apply directly for a Statement of Accreditation.
