Queensland Health offers generous financial rewards and incentives for allied health professionals.

Allied health professionals are employed under the Health Practitioners (Queensland Health) Certified Agreement (No. 1) 2007.
Wages are paid fortnightly into a designated bank account.
The following wage rates are payable from 1 September 2009:

When taking recreation leave you will receive a loading of 17.5% of your salary.

Superannuation is a way of saving for your retirement.
Queensland Health will make contributions on your behalf, of between 9.75% and 12.75% of your salary.
You can access your superannuation on retirement, or on permanent return to your country of origin for non Australian citizens.

Salary sacrificing or packaging allows you to deduct some of your pre-tax salary and use it to pay for benefits such as rent or mortgage repayments, insurances, motor vehicle operating expenses, travel expenses and more.
By reducing your pre-tax income, you reduce the amount of income tax you pay, and therefore increase the amount of pay you take home each fortnight.

Alllied health professionals permanently located in eligible rural and remote districts and health care facilities will be paid an extra $60 to $100 per week.

On call allowance is payable to allied health professionals who are instructed to be on call outside ordinary or rostered working hours.

Allied health professionals who are required to be on emergency clinical on call for essential direct emergency clinical interventions will receive the emergency clinical on call allowance instead of the standard on call allowance.

Permanently employed allied health professionals will receive an allowance to undertake professional development activities, of either $1500, $2000 or $2500 per year depending on whether they are located in a metro/regional, rural or remote district or healthcare facility respectively. This is divided up and paid fortnightly with your salary.

Employees at a level of HP3.0-HP3.7 or HP4.1-HP4.3 who hold a relevant Post Graduate Certificate, Post Graduate Diploma, second Degree or equivalent credential; or Post Graduate Masters Degree or PhD, are entitled to an immediate advancement of one increment.
Those who have been at the top increment of their level (HP3.8 or HP4.4) for 12 months are entitled to an all purpose allowance instead of the immediate advancement of one increment. This is equal to $2682.86 (second Degree or Post Graduate Certificate/Diploma) or $4215.92 (Masters of PhD) per year, which is divided up and paid fortnightly with your salary.

Allied health professionals who are designated to provide clinical education of undergraduate or graduate entry students in certain disciplines are entitled to a student clinical education allowance of $10 per day, up to a maximum of $100 per fortnight.

Radiation therapists, including professional development year radiation therapists, are entitled to a radiation therapy development allowance of $5839 per year, which is divided up and paid fortnightly with your salary.

Queensland Health will pay the licence fees for employees who are required to hold a licence under the Radiation Safety Act 1999 (QLD).
Allied health professionals required to hold dual registrations, such as sonographers, are entitled to have the cost for their second registration paid by Queensland Health.
