The Acquired Brain Injury Outreach Service (ABIOS) has an active research and development program facilitated by a designated Research and Development Officer. The research and development program at ABIOS includes service-specific research initiatives as well as collaborative research with universities, other government departments and community organisations. Since its inception, ABIOS has contributed significantly to the international research literature in Acquired Brain Injury through multiple publications and presentations at both national and international conferences. ABIOS research initiatives include:
-
Designing and co-ordinating research into community based service delivery for people with ABI
-
Fostering the development of responsive services for people with ABI
-
Evaluation of ABIOS service delivery and reporting to key stakeholders
Central to the ABIOS research and development program is a focus on research that is relevant to people with ABI, their families and communities and informs both service and policy development.
